An Autonomous System (AS) is a collection of IP networks managed by a single large organization (like an ISP, tech company, or university) that controls routing. Each AS is assigned a unique Autonomous System Number (ASN) for identification. ASNs are critical for network routing between systems using Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), letting network engineers track where traffic originates and how it is routed across transit networks.

A standard DNS query resolves a domain name (like google.com) to an IP address (like 142.250.190.46) using A or AAAA records. A Reverse DNS lookup (rDNS) performs the opposite operation.
